David Fredrik Moussallem – Controlled Chaos

This superb short film by Deepi Ahluwalia is a fascinating look at the streetwise artistic process of David Fredrik Moussallem (featured here before), and how he “carves” his deconstructed collage paintings from material collected from hoardings and dumpsters all over Toronto.

Moussallem is a “post-graffiti” painter

Moussallem is described as a “post-graffiti” painter, with his deconstructed carved collage paintings influenced by the street art movement. His background in Advertising, Graphic Design, and Typography heavily influence his approach and he describes his pieces as “revealing our differences and similarities in a raw and honest approach.”

  1. I really connected with hiss comments about how when a favored piece leaves the studio it leaves a hollow spot, and how starting over is hard. Wonderful, clear and inspirational explication of how and why he works. Great videography and music too. Thank you so much for posting this
