New York City artist Julie Fei-Fan Balzer does marvelous journal work, as this video clearly shows. The process of journal making becomes a little more understandable watching this time-lapse piece. A painter and mixed media artist, she is also co-host of Scrapbook Soup TV (PBS), is a frequent magazine contributor, produces her own podcasts and operates Balzer Designs. Whew!

So much fun! I was drawing all over my notes in a meeting today and the prof next to me leaned over and said, sort of jokingly, “Stop that!” “Why?” I replied. No way – this is just a great video to watch and be inspired to simply relax and enjoy yourself in the act of creation. 🙂
That’s a great anecdote about the prof. Never have understood why people do that. I agree on the relaxed take-up of the video, too.
Loved this! I love the IDEA of journalling, just not the discipline of the reality! I guess its like most exercises – the more effort you put in, the more you get out of it…
I’m with you, on the idea versus the reality. So true.
Really interesting to watch! She has got a lot of patience I think 🙂

True. Patience must be part of the routine, I imagine.

I have always kept a journal, and this post interested me. 🙂
I always think it’s persistence that helps creativity – including journals. Good for you. It takes a lot of energy to keep a journal. Glad you enjoyed the video.
This was awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Yes, you can pick up some fabulous tips and tricks on the video, which is also a great overview of journalling in general. Glad you enjoyed.
