Photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagrèze is a French expat who lives in the heart of Kowloon, his base for recording Hong Kong. These images are from Vertical Horizons (also a book), which he describes as “a contemplative dive into the raw nature of Hong Kong and an expression of its vertical elan.” (Click images for original, larger views)

Freakin’ amazing views! That first one looks uber-reconstructed, either sculpturally or digitally. Hard to think that it’s just the real view!
Huge and scary.
Metro people…..tied end to end…!!!

Love the idea of shape being formed from negative (unoccupied) space, transforming it into a physical and positive space.
Thanks for the reblog, appreciated.
wicked!
That’s incredible. Such a different perspective; yet it’s exactly what we see when we look up. Love it.
And such a beautifully executed perspective, agreed.
Dizzyingly captivating!
I know, right? (Two words today!)
Great work!
The artist just captured exactly what I feel whenever I’m in that city that is so dear to me! Look up, feel small in the immense concrete jungle that is Hong Kong!
Well reading everybody’s comments, it seems to me I have to move Hong Kong up a few notches on my bucket list! Thanks for the comments and reblogs everybody. I love this photog’s work.
It’s definitley a place worth spending some time. Not just visiting for a few days … hard to explain, difficult to understand, but it speaks to the heart! http://danielaang.wordpress.com
