A premiere Andy Warhol exhibition features works shown for the first time at Moderna Museet Malmö. Titled Warhol 1968, it’s a unique collection of album covers, his famous cow wallpaper, Ten-Foot Flowers and more.
1968 was a politically tumultuous year both in Sweden and the rest of the world. It was also a dramatic year for Warhol. That year, he had his first solo museum exhibition, and it was also at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Just a few months after it closed, he survived an assassination attempt.
The focus of the exhibition is on the political turbulence and the murder attempt that partly changed Warhol’s direction as an artist.
This video (not part of the exhibition in Stockholm) is an excellent tutorial on all things Warhol.
