Emma Kohlmann – Sitting by the Well

Visionary artist Emma Kohlmann, known for drawing based on intuition, is on solo exhibition at Cooper Cole Gallery in Sitting by the Well through Sept. 9. You can see each of the individual works on the gallery page, here.

“Guided by the desire to evoke specific moods, she draws from her intuition and immerses herself in a world of recurring universal symbols present throughout her art,” the gallery says.

This is an artist who expresses discomfort with being solely labeled as a painter. Instead, she identifies as a creator of pictures, emphasizing the artistry inherent in her visual storytelling. “This perspective is reflected in her incorporation of pyrography, using fire to burn designs onto wood frames.”
