Mixed media artist Fabio Corruzi is a long-time favourite on Canadian Art Junkie, most recently because he now blends writing with his art in what he calls “poetry boxes,” like this one.
Dinner Time, Gardena
Night get cosy
and tiny
lights are never enough
tables stay flat in darkness
sounds in wide distance
night and blue clouds
slim sad lights
across the street
lost and happy
just outside the door
the boy run to the car
the girl standing
under hot bulb
Day stopped”

On the reverse, I did some drawings to go with a series of poems by my favourite poet on WP.
The series is “The Sad Café”. It’s brilliant.
My art is still growing, but this was a special project for me. Art with poetry is sublime.

Your art is beautiful – thank you so much for tipping me to this post. The drawings so fit the words, love it, all of them. My favourite line is “The night arches its back to drunken angels . . .”
Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you. Yes, Holly is a brilliant poet. She must eat metaphors for breakfast.
Terrific art. I’m a big fan of mixed media.
When I started blogging, I was amazed at how poetry had been reborn on WP.
It has been popular for poets to write to art and photos, for a time now.
This is special, as it is the artist writing to his own art.
There’s an extra added depth.
Thanks CAJ!
I’m with you on why it’s special — it’s the depth, as you say.
