Kelly Grace is an artist I’ve featured before (here) but there’s more to learn about her this time around. She was surrounded by creative influences growing up north of Toronto. Her paternal grandparents were traveling puppeteers in California in the 1950s, and her grandfather was also a clown and a painter.
Although she studied interpretive illustration at Sheridan College, she never pursued that career. But it was at Sheridan that she developed her acrylic style.
In her final year, a project focused on ‘phobias’ prompted her to examine the “fear of clowns.” Despite the fact that she isn’t actually afraid of clowns, the project allowed her to develop her unique style – gallery notes.
Kelly Grace has been exhibiting her art professionally since 2004. Her paintings express her love of retro inspired themes and subject matter with a modern narrative.
