Emerging Toronto artist Nurielle Stern has won the 2019 Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics, reflecting the judging panel’s appreciation for her work with texture and vibrant glazes.
Stern makes tangible a fictional world of her own imagining creating things that are at once strange and familiar – notes for her exhibition at the Gardiner Museum
Nurielle Stern is a ceramic sculpture and installation artist and a graduate of Alfred University’s renowned MFA program in Ceramic Art (2014). She has also studied ceramics at Sheridan College and holds a BFA in Sculpture and Installation from OCAD University.
