Rodriguez: Found by the River

Artist Daniel Rios Rodriguez uses discarded and organic materials gathered on walks in the San Antonio River Valley where he lives. He uses shells, feathers, rope, and other found objects as he collages and assembles his mixed media works.

The Nicelle Beauchene gallery in New York hosted a two-person show in the summer of 2018 for Rodriguez and New Zealand artist Kate Newby (above), the first time the two exhibited together. Newby works with installation, textile, ceramics, casting and glass.

Rodriguez was born Killeen, Texas, in 1978. Before receiving his MFA from Yale, he earned a BFA in studio arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Rodriguez has been exhibiting his work at galleries and institutions since 2011.
