Sophie MacNeill – Slow stitching

Sophie MacNeill combines her Fine Arts, Environmental Design and Landscape Architecture background in an artistic practice focused on the slow and deliberate processes of drawing and stitching. She is one of the Noun Project’s list of Top Illustrators and Designers of 2023.

The Vancouver-based landscape architect and textile artist says her creative process is messy, “perhaps most obvious when you look at the back of my stitched embroidery pieces.” She says she is impulsive and driven by “hungry hands” and a deep appreciation and need to make things grow.
