John Gibson has been exploring the sphere for more than 30 years, creating works with subtly rich colors and finely balanced compositions. If you are not familiar with his work, here is the original Art Junkie post.
He is on exhibition at the William Havu Gallery in Denver through April 20. That’s Gibson on the right (below) in front of his work Cordova, oil on wood panel, 64 1/2 x 63 7/8 in.
Gibson’s work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Museum at the Rhode Island School of Design, among other institutions. Born in 1958, he earned his MFA from Yale and has taught at Smith College and the Rhode Island School of Design. He lives and works in Northampton, Massachusetts. His website is here.
