La Wilson: Every Little Thing

La Wilson’s art draws the eye to the many ordinary, tiny objects we need to function but don’t really pay attention to: buttons, pencils, corks, belt buckles, batteries, car keys and clothespins, to name a few. Wilson assembles her constructions by trial and error, using objects that appeal to her, accumulated at places like flea markets and antique shops.  See more on the video below.

  1. I am late in adding a comment here, but I just stumbled on your post about La Wilson. I had the privilege of meeting her last year, and I continue to be inspired by her. She is ailing, I understand, and I hope to see her again soon. So glad you called attention to her here.

  2. Love to see how/where artists work; their environment. Love mixed media and her uniqueness.

  3. La Wilson is one of my favorite artists in the world. Ever. Her wok has made every day of my life more interesting and beautiful.

  4. I was scrolling down, loving the images, luscious and full of texture and wondering who the talented hipster was…. so happily surprised to see her! Ha – I must examine my age-ist attitude… and I’m 55!!! She is awesome!

Something to say?
