Before it was folded into Canadian Art Junkie, the Global Art Junkie blog also carried sketchbooks, including this one which was featured on Freshly Pressed. Mark Penxa’s quirky sketched characters captured more than 5,000 viewers.

One of the best uses for a sketchbook is to try out colours, shapes and patterns, as London-based artist Parul Arora does here. There’s a lot of practical full-scale experimentation in these books, featured by Jacksons Art, here.

These stylish sketches about beauty are in a suite of drawings by German artist Jill Senft. She is an illustrator with clients ranging from Bloomberg and the New York Times to Crocs and Geo. But I’m glad she also posts her sketchbooks.
