Those of us living north of the 49th parallel can confirm that the winter light in Wilf Perrault’s works is always exactly right. So are his depictions of the back alleys that run through so many of our communities.
He’s on exhibition in Up Your Alley at Peter Robertson Gallery in Edmonton through Jan. 13, 2024. Acrylic paint is the medium for these works, and is applied on canvas or on aluminum composite board. See a previous Art Junkie post on the revered Saskatchewan artist, here.

You are exactly right — he is exactly right!
Beautiful.
He really does capture the cold, the lights, the homes, the ice and car tracks… I feel like I need a warm coat looking at his work. I mean this in a good way.
He definitely has a touch for capturing the winter, as you say. Love the comment about needing a warm coat!
