Toshio Shibata: A Japanese Eye

The large-format, long exposure photographs of Toshio Shibata achieve a unique harmony by focusing on the interweaving of natural forces with man-made structures.

The work of the Japanese photo artist is on exhibition at Laurence Miller Gallery in New York.

His work has a strong connection with the way classical Japanese architecture integrates itself within its environment, notes for the exhibition say. His early training as a painter can be seen in his thoughtful arrangement of the elements within each frame.
