Sophie Leblanc: Childhood Remembered

Sophie Leblanc turned to art full time when she lost affection for her first career as an architect. The French illustrator and painter now explores the “tension between the softness and gravity which characterizes childhood.”

Many of her oil on canvas works are large scale close-ups of evocative faces, or scenes that edge into surrealism.

Sophie Leblanc left architecture for the world of illustration, children’s books and advertising in 2004. She became a painter in 2012. She lives and works in Paris.
