Greta Guzek embraces the spirit of the West Coast. Her intricate designs and vivid colours have become a distinct feature of her artwork, which has gained wide appeal across Canada.
“Her paintings sway and sing with the rhythm and colour of the coast while her organically undulating forms express the intricacies and possibilities of floral manifestation that thrive happily in our verdant rainforest” – Ian Tan Gallery
Greta Guzek completed a Fine Arts Degree in South Africa where she grew up and then moved to Vancouver, working as a designer and illustrator. Since 1990, she has lived and worked as a painter from her studio on the Sunshine Coast, BC.

I love the trees.
Well, Emily Carr inspires from the west, even unseen, not noted. I do see a unique individuality, but I still can’t help thinking about a certain part of west coast art so defined. Guzek’s paintings are wonderful!
You’re right about Emily Carr. What an incredible groundwork she laid, still informing west coast art today.
Wow! Greta! She lives in my hood.. 🙂 Thanks, Junkie – it is wonderful to see her work on your site!!
Well your hood must be pretty creative then! Yes, she’s great, and I love that west coast vibe you all translate so well.
This might sound like I don’t think they’re great paintings done with talent, but I don’t mean that in the least: they remind me of the paint-by-numbers kids I used to do as a child. Of course way better in product and method! They are beautiful.
That’s an awesome comment. I do actually see exactly what you mean. Great observation, one of the things I love best about blogging. Thank you.
Lovely work.
Yes, and such gorgeous colors, agree.
Hello, very nice.
You have a good day!
