One of my favorite blogs, Daily Art Fixx, did an absorbing post about one of my favorite artists, Wassily Kandinsky. I posted on Kandinsky here before, but Art Fixx takes a comprehensive look at this groundbreaking artist. Lots of details are how Wendy Campbell makes her blog such an art history heaven.

I wanted to ask you something about the sketchbook project 2013 since I came to know about it from your blog. I completed my sketchbook. Do I just send the book now to their address, or do I need to send some other document along with it? I have misplaced the guideline that they had sent to me along with the sketchbook, and now can’t remember what the process was.
Also, can I already upload the scanned copy of my sketchbook in my blog? If you can tell me, it will be a big help.

HI – Wow, impressive. I know a lot of people who haven’t even started (including me).
As long as they sent you the sketchbook, with the barcode on the back, all you have to do is mail it back to them. If you spent the extra money (when you registered) to have them digitize your book, they will email you when it’s up on their site (as long as you included your email when you registered – if not, send it with your book).
Yes, you can just upload it to your blog (and we’ll all watch for it). No reason at all not to do that. Lots of us get great enjoyment browsing blogs for work like this. The only other thing you might want to do is subscribe to the Art House Co-op email, follow them on Tumblr or Twitter, or go to their site occasionally so you know the schedule of their travelling library in case you want to go see your book. Hope this is enough info.

Thanks so much! I could not afford to delay too much 🙂 because I have to mail it to them from India, which might take quite some time. In fact I participated to the project at the last moment, and had to hurry a bit to finish it. But it was lot of fun and I hope to do it with some more time in hand next time.

One of my absolute favourites too. Can’t figure out why he’s never – quite – mentioned in the same breath as Picasso and Matisse. An art colossus.
Colossus, that’s such a great word for him. I saw a Kandinsky retrospective in Vienna a few years ago and it was incredible to see live.
