Serbian artist Vladimir Stankovic has created some new species in these animated illustrations in scientific style. His Cephalopodoptera series blends Octopus, squid, moths and beetles into fantasy creatures. Nice GIFs.

I want one as a pet! Very creative.
I love the images, but the blinking parts are a bit annoying after a while. Beautiful artwork, though.
Hmmm. I get that, really. But I love the fact that fun artwork like these can now be populated by working GIFs.
Yeah, I’m just not a fan of gifs, but it’s cool that he’s experimenting with the newest technology. But I still like his take on the old-fashioned insect drawings more.
Beautiful! Reminds me of The Arrival by Shaun Tan.
I so appreciate references like this one. Thank you. And for others, here’s a link: http://www.shauntan.net/books/the-arrival.html
Brilliant!
And so alive.
Awesome! I really like looking at bugs. I know, I’m weird like that. But these are so fanciful and like others said – the GIFs really add to the images without making them gaudy or kitchy.
Not weird. Curious. Much better than weird.
😉
Thanks so much for sharing. He is an incredible artist.
Yes indeed. Just went travelling through your sites. Lovely work, thanks for the introduction to it!
Fantastic! I love these!
Yep, I found them irresistible.
Whoa…these are too cool! Consider my mind blown…the whole little animation bits with lights is mesmerizing. Thanks so much for sharing!

I agree. The art is terrific, but the GIFs really make the works.
