Quick Hits – Tin Menagerie

This painting is a perfect example of why artist Kari Tirrell has such a strong reputation for realism. It’s called Tin Menagerie, done in acrylic on a 24 by 26 inch board.

Looking for something less conventional than tabletops of fruit or bread, Tirrell stumbled on her hallmark of grouped tin toys when she placed some Christmas ornaments into a pile to paint.  Her tin toy paintings often suggest a narrative, such as a charming parade in Duck, Duck, Goose (below). Some are laugh-out-loud funny –Rehs Contemporary

      1. I can’t even imagine. It’s beyond amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s wonderful. Thank you for posting it.

  1. Sweet!
PS. Just learning your new blog.
Do I understand that this will be your only blog, eventually, or is that a different address?

    1. I used to have a Global Art Junkie, for interesting but non-Canadian art. Separating them no longer makes sense, so I merged all those Global Art posts into this blog – yes, only 1 art blog now.

Something to say?
