Quick Hits: Snowmobile Art

Laura Millard creates her symmetrical images while circling aboard a snowmobile on a large frozen lake and simultaneously taking photographs from a drone cruising above. Random animal markings and hand-drawn elements further embellish the images.

In earlier works she photographed marks left by skaters. Adding to and altering these images with paint and ink in the studio, Millard brings together contradictory ways in which we see, alter and represent the landscape. Animals, wild and domestic, contribute their own marks, which contrast and compliment the artist’s purposeful intent. –Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies
